Trip to Kharagpur for campus recruitment
Trip to Kharagpur for campus recruitment:
The campus recruitment was scheduled on 10-Dec-2007. HR could not confirm the itinerary till 7-Dec-2007.
The journey to Kharagpur from Hyderabad itself is a big story, if not planned properly which was happened with me. we took flight on 9-Dec-2007 @11.20 which reached Kolkata at 1.30 pm. We hired pre-paid taxi from Airport to Howrah Railway station which costed around Rs.200/- which is very cost effective more members are travelling. Reached Howrah station at around 2.30, then had our lunch in Food Plaza in the new station building. As usual, any food in Kolkata is sweet as the case with the rice i have taken. we caught the train at 5.30, which reached KGP around 7.30. Normal second class seating was booked and sitting in restricted space for 2 hrs is a real pain.
we took a cab from station to KGP IIT campus and got the guest house accommodation.
Our process is that first we will have presentation about our company, followed by test and then interview. It was informed that the presentation will start @7.00 AM in the morning.
Being Alumni of IIT, I remembered my M.Tech days (1996-1998). IIT campus, including the recruitment cell did not change at all even after 10 years. It brings a lot of pride when I remember the IIT days. I visited my department, which also did not change much...CAD/CAM lab has got more computers now.
We were ready by 6.30 and reached the recruitment cell by 6.55 AM. Surprisingly no one was present except a couple of students. Even the coordiantor did not turn up on time. we called him and then at around 7.30 we came to know that very few B.Techs left is Comp. Science dept. Our entry criterion to the test is B.Tech(Comp. Sc). Our HR has to allow M.Tech & Dual Degree B.Tech guys so that we have enough group to conduct the test. As many few students turned up and as we now changed the criterion to inform the M.Tech and Dual degree students, we had to postphone our presentation to 10.30 AM. The presentation went well and the Written test started at around
12.15 PM. I never imagined that I will come to the same campus as a recruiter....:)
After the test is over, we shortlisted 13 candidates our of 32 attended.
Our interviews started and went till late night at around 11.45.
Next day again we woke up at 5.30 to catch a train at 8.20 from KGP to Howrah...
Finally landed Hyderabad at around 5.30 PM....

Restuarants in Hyderabad
1. Restaurant BASIL, Road No.2, Banjara Hills - Pure Veg Restaurant.
Went to this restaurant couple of times. The ambiance is pretty good, the hotel is neat and spacious. Buffet Lunch is very good and tasty here. Value for Money
2. Southern Spice - Road No. 2, Banjara Hills - Veg, Non-Veg
Good one to go with family...Always busy one. Moderate Ambiance, but food is nice here.
3. Chutneys - Near Punjagutta - Pure Veg
Good place to have breakfast like south indian specials. Always crowded. Though this is costly, but taste beats the economy here :)

Review of Movie: Happy Days
The movie is very good. It starts with entering college and ends with settling in life with a career.
One can enjoy the entire movie without boredom. The screen play is very good and the songs are very catchy. whoever watches the movie remember their college life and how they spend their time during that time. I will give 5 Starts to this movie (on a scale of 1-5, 5 being best)
The director has taken extreme care in all situations which tells why the movie is so successful.
Don't forget to watch this movie. It is more than value for money and also cheers up the mood of the audience...

My BhadraChalam Trip
August 15th &16th, 2007.
______________________________
Our trip to Bhadrachalam (which is situated in Andhra Pradesh, India) started on 14th August and we returned on 17th August morning. The trip was very much enjoyable especially because of the boat travel in the middle of Godavari River.
Bhadrachalam is famous for Lord Rama Temple & his devotee Bhakta RamDas.
From Hyderabad, we started on 14th night by train (departed sec'bad at 10.30 p.m) and it reached kothagudam at morning 5.00 A.M. From Kothagudam railway station, we took a bus to reach Bhadrachalam which took around 1 hr. The advantage here is the buses ply from Kothagudam station to Bhadrachalam, so one can catch the buses very easily. The fare is also very cheap around Rs.20/- per head.
we went to a nearby hotel and booked 2 rooms for my family (parents-2, sister's family-4, my family -4) and it costed around Rs. 600/- for A/C room. The hotel is decent & neat.
we went to Darshan at around 9 a.m and it happened very quickly because of less crowd.
The Bhadrachalam temple top can be seen here...
Another snap of my parents & sister's family along with me (my wife is taking the snap) is here.
2nd day (16th August, 2007)
There is placed called Koonavaram which is about 50km from Bhadrachalam from where the boat travel starts which takes you to show "Paapi Kondalu" famous for their scenic appearance.
we booked tickets on 15th which costing around Rs.200/- per head. The boat timings are 9.30 to 4.30. we went by bus to koonavaram at 6.30. Though the travel is supposed to be around 1 to 1.5 hrs, it took around 2.5 hrs for us, because of the road being blocked by the fall of a very big tree. we got down the bus from this end and took the bus on the other end and reached koonvaram around 9.30. The boat started at around 10.30......
(1st Photo showing the tree blocking the road).
The scenic beauty of the Godavari river and the surrounding hills is marvelous.
and is doubled if you are going in a boat in between the river with surrounding hills :)
You can find the scenic beauty in the last of above two photos.
